You need to prepare yourself before you speak. Have you got a manuscript or notes? Even if you don’t look at it and speak, you can look through it just before or carry it as a talisman. Do you have a Sharpie? If a good phrase comes to mind, you can make a last-minute note of it. Do anything else you can think of. I used to host at a large venue.
